I was able to get out of the house for a few hours to see “Mamma Mia!” in the comfort of a theatre. It’s a film version of a musical about a 20-old-girl getting married but she never knew her birth father. She found her mother’s diary from that point in time and narrowed it down to three possibilities. So she invited all three to wedding, hoping to discover the truth, but finding out more about herself in the process.
The musical was made up of songs recorded by “ABBA” and it was put together real well. I don’t know which was funnier: seeing Pierce Brosnan sing or seeing all the eyes of Stellan Skarsgard. Hint: one set is tattooed on his knees.
I liked the movie, but my all-time favorite film musical is still “Moulin Rouge”, which is set in 1890’s Paris, but contains contemporary songs by artists such as Madonna, Sting, and .... ABBA.
The movie made me think of what I was doing 20 years ago. If it was set on a tiny island in Orange County, then I’d be kinda paranoid.
A word about my blog .....
I'm using this blog to keep notes on my life and experiences, plus to keep track of my own recovery from a stroke (December 2006).
For those of you who were not aware, my brother, John, died on February 10, 2010. His remains were cremated and interred at Green Hills Memorial Park.
