My parents dropped me off for the evening service at SBCC, before having dinner with my aunt at The Local Place. I sat near the front and was soon joined by Chris and Sunny, the latter being present “by default” (long story).
Pastor Gary started a new series titled “One Prayer”, which is being presented simultaneously by over 1600 churches worldwide. His message this week was if he had to pick one prayer for the church as a whole, it would be to “MAKE US URGENT”!
He spoke about the state of the world and the need for the church to reach out and bring as many as possible to God. Romans 13:11 says that “the hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber”. He clarified that it meant for us to become more aware of what is going on around us, not the actual sleep that he has witnessed in the congregation during his sermons.
After the service, I made my way to the kitchen, to meet up with my Revelation study group. Steve T was facilitating and was supposed to send out the questions a week in advance, but nothing was received. I met with John, Reiko and Kiyomi first; Mike, Carol and Judy were on the Solvang day trip, and arrived by 7pm. Steve showed up around 7:20 with questions in-hand.
We discussed Revelation 11:1-14, “The Two Witnesses”. Steve’s questions were so thought-provoking that he didn’t have time to come up with the answers. Kiyomi served up a great noodle dish, along with cake and ice cream. Steve gave me a ride and got me home by 10:30pm.
A word about my blog .....
I'm using this blog to keep notes on my life and experiences, plus to keep track of my own recovery from a stroke (December 2006).
For those of you who were not aware, my brother, John, died on February 10, 2010. His remains were cremated and interred at Green Hills Memorial Park.
COMMENTS ARE ENCOURAGED, WELCOMED AND APPRECIATED.
