For most of my working friends, Wednesday is usually referred to as "Hump Day", the perceived midpoint between weekends. Once you get past the "hump", the weekend is a short two days away.
Well, during my stroke recovery, Wednesday is my "slump day", a full day of nothing. The caregiver we hired to assist me is off and no therapies are scheduled. After breakfast, I usually read, handle bills and work on my bible studies until lunch. The time between lunch and dinner is usually a drag. My father is around to help, but he isn't really strong enough to assist me with my therapy exercises. I usually spend the afternoon staring out the window or taking a nap, both of which are non-productive, as far as my recovery is concerned.
I try to schedule lunches with friends but most of my friends work or are too far away to meet. I try to make them extended sessions with either discussion or an activity; it's a great time for an afternoon movie matinee. But for today, dinner time has been reached and another Slump Day has been survived.
A word about my blog .....
I'm using this blog to keep notes on my life and experiences, plus to keep track of my own recovery from a stroke (December 2006).
For those of you who were not aware, my brother, John, died on February 10, 2010. His remains were cremated and interred at Green Hills Memorial Park.
